Position Summary

Red Baron Transportation is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shuttle Driver / Yard Spotter (CDL-A) to support operations in New Castle, Delaware . This position is responsible for safely moving trailers throughout the yard, coordinating trailer placement with warehouse operations, and completing local shuttle runs between facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong backing skills, experience operating Class A equipment, and a commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer service. This is a home-daily position that combines yard spotting responsibilities with a dedicated shuttle route between the yard and a nearby customer location, approximately 45 miles each way .

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting efficient trailer flow, maintaining on-time deliveries, and ensuring safe operations both in the yard and on the road.

Key Responsibilities

Safely move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated parking locations. Coordinate trailer movements with warehouse and operations personnel. Perform local shuttle runs between company and customer locations. Transport preloaded trailers between facilities in a safe and timely manner. Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of all assigned equipment.

Maintain accurate ELD logs and transportation documentation. Ensure all trailers are properly secured and positioned. Report maintenance issues, equipment defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly. Maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company policies. Keep assigned equipment clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.

Operate safely in a fast-paced yard environment while maintaining awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Provide professional service while representing Red Baron Transportation and BWT Logistics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A). Minimum of three (3) years of Class A driving experience. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Current DOT Medical Card. Registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Experience operating Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). Experience backing and maneuvering 53-foot trailers.

Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing operational needs. Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous yard spotting or jockey experience. Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environments. Basic mechanical troubleshooting knowledge. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Safety vest required. Additional PPE provided by BWT Logistics and must be worn as required by site and customer policies.

Compensation

and Benefits $24.00 - $26.00 per hour Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage after 90 days. Time Off: Paid holidays and PTO available after 90 days.
