Position Summary

Red Baron Transportation is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL-A Local Driver to support operations in Rome, Georgia . This position is responsible for safely transporting freight between customer and company locations throughout Northwest Georgia while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company standards.

The ideal candidate will be safety-minded, customer-focused, and committed to providing reliable service. This is a full-time, home-daily position operating a day cab tractor and 53-foot van trailer. Drivers will perform local pickup and delivery (P&D) routes consisting primarily of drop-and-hook freight with occasional live load and unload shipments.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate a Class A CDL day cab tractor with a 53-foot van trailer. Complete local pickup and delivery routes throughout Rome and surrounding Northwest Georgia markets. Transport freight safely and efficiently while maintaining delivery schedules. Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of equipment.

Maintain accurate Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records and required transportation documentation. Ensure freight is properly secured and transported without damage. Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and operations personnel. Report maintenance concerns, accidents, delays, or safety issues promptly. Maintain compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company policies.

Keep assigned equipment clean, organized, and in safe working condition. Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Red Baron Transportation and BWT Logistics professionally.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A). Minimum of three (3) years of Class A driving experience. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Current DOT Medical Card. Registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Experience using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen. Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of safety and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

Hazmat Endorsement. Previous pickup and delivery (P&D) experience. Experience operating day cab equipment and van trailers. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. Transportation, warehousing, or logistics industry experience. Skills Safe commercial vehicle operation DOT and FMCSA compliance Route planning and navigation Electronic Logging Device (ELD) proficiency Customer service and professionalism Time management Attention to detail Problem-solving and adaptability Communication and teamwork Freight securement PPE Requirements Steel-toe boots required.

Additional PPE provided by BWT Logistics as required by customer locations and operational needs.

Compensation

and Benefits $22.00 per hour Additional $1.00 per hour for drivers with a Hazmat Endorsement Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage after 90 days.
