Registered Nurse

Your Opportunity: Unit 58 is an in-patient vascular and podiatry focused surgical unit. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides a professional, caring and comprehensive approach to the vascular, podiatry, surgical and medical patient. The Registered Nurse provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients and families on Unit 58 for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, illness and safety prevention.

PLC Unit 58 maintains an excellent relationship with their sister unit Vascular Special Care Unit 59. There may be instances where the successful candidate is asked to provide assistance on Unit 59. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support

• Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum 1-year recent (within 2 years) surgical nursing experience. Understanding of Co. Act and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Basic knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office). Strong patient teaching skills. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision-making, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working rules.

Preferred Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Peripheral vascular surgery nursing experience. Current IV, CVC, epidural, and PCA certifications.
