The tutor is primarily responsible for encouraging self-directed learning and development in each student. To do this, a tutor assists students in developing a deep understanding of their coursework. This may require the tutor to help clarify a concept or give a clear explanation of an assignment. The tutor is not expected to know how to answer every possible question, but rather to work to ensure that the student develops a firm foundation to take learning to the next level.
