Group Projects Senior Process Engineer

Role Purpose:Provide Technical Subject Matter Expertise support across the business to support technical\design optimisation for major studies and projects to deliver predictable capital and schedule outcomes to minimize ambiguity\rework, optimise scope and support strategic investment decisions. Drive improved technical quality, cost efficiency, predictability and speed to value.

Responsible for ensuring process solutions are technically robust, cost-effective, operable, and culturally adaptable, particularly within projects involving Chinese EPC/EPCM contractors and Western engineering standards. The position plays a critical role in bridging design philosophies, technical standards, and delivery approaches across international stakeholders.

Accountabilities:Incorporate technology and innovation solutions from studies to delivery, to reduce costs and improve operational outcomes Provide Technical Subject Matter Expertise across the business to support technical\design optimisation for major studies and projects. Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mining, mechanical, electrical, and control systems Act as the owner’s process engineering representative managing EPCM/EPC contractor deliverables Participate in design reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, and constructability reviews Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for: Throughput improvement, recovery enhancement and cost reduction, energy and water efficiency Conduct root cause analyses for plant issues and implement corrective actions.

Lead or support debottlenecking and brownfield expansion studies Evaluate processing options and technologies to maximise recovery, throughput, and cost efficiency Provide input into capital (CAPEX) and operating cost (OPEX) estimates. Participate in risk assessments, trade-off studies, and value engineering workshops.

Interface with geology, mining, metallurgy, and commercial teams. Improve decision quality and reduced downstream rework across all assets and non-assets Delivery of safe, efficient, and optimised copper process designs Effective integration of Chinese and Western engineering practices Support procurement activities including vendor evaluations and technical bid assessments.

Provide on-site support during construction, ensuring alignment with design intent Successful lifecycle delivery from studies through operations Ensure smooth transition from project delivery into stable operations Protect against premature final investment decisions Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs and facilitate decision-making across stakeholders Support Assets in the understanding and application of the MMG Project Standard, and associated Work Quality Requirements (WQRs) Support funding approvals, PIR’s, undertake inflight and gate reviews.

Ensure HSE and sustainability requirements are integrated into study outcomes. Provide leadership and mentoring to project team members Prepare recommendations on studies to EXCO and Investment Review Committee Lead value improvement, option assessment, and trade-off studies to optimise project outcomes Drive capital efficiency for existing and new assets to drive better return on investments.

Manage the relationship and with Chinese suppliers and Engineering companies in relation to studies Demonstrate behaviours that are always aligned with the MMG Values and Code of Conduct
