JOB TITLE: Tournament Traveler – Scale Room Associate LOCATION: Tournament Site ( Las Vegas, NV ) POS I TION TYPE: Temporary , Full-Time FLSA STATUS: Non
- E xempt REPORTS TO : Scale Room Supervisor WORK HOURS: Varying shifts are scheduled seven days per week based on tournament operations. The ability to work early in the mornings, late in the evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours is required.
POSITION SUMMARY
USBC is looking for dedicated , service-minded individual s to join our tournament team as a Scale Room A ssociate. Scale Room team members are responsible for verifying that all bowling equipment complies with USBC specifications prior to competition. Using advanced measurement tools and procedures, Scale Room Associates help ensure fairness and integrity across all Championship events.
Their precision and commitment to standards are fundamental to the success of the tournament experience. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply USBC/Tournament policy - perform visual checks to ensure all equipment used for competition meets USBC specifications. Provide clear and courteous communication to bowlers regarding equipment standards and inspection results .
Regularly participate in scheduled meetings and huddles , k eep ing tournament leaders hip informed of department activities and service challenges . Lockers – Provide locker service (maintenance and customer aid) as needed. Other duties as assigned . SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS :
- Basic knowledge of bowling ball layouts and static weights.
- Must be neat and well-groomed always as will have frequent contact with guests, clients, and supporting staff.
- Superior customer service proficiencies- service-minded and engaged.
- Strong communication skills-ability to speak clearly and confidently.
- Computer and communication systems literate
- PC, two-way radios, and phones.
- Focused–the ability to complete tasks accurately in a distraction-filled environment.
- Robust interpersonal skills–team player.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive participant, financial, personnel, scoring, and operational information. EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
- High School Diploma or continuing education .
- Familiarity with tournament bowling and bowling terminology.
- Experience working in a fast-paced service environment.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to changing operational needs .
- Ability to pass USBC Registered Volunteer Program background screening and adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Must be able to work in an occasionally noisy environment with potential short-term exposure to non-toxic fumes. Must be mobile as well as sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift 16 lbs. repetitively (two-hour spans) and 65 lbs. occasionally. TRAVEL: T his position will require the employee to be on-site for the Ch ampionships, so relocation is required for up to 6 months at a time .
