Warehouse Controller
Job description
YOUR ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Controller to join our operation based in Derby, supporting a key client within a fast-paced manufacturing and logistics environment. You’ll keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly, lead and support your team, manage workloads and make sure everything is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong supervisory experience looking to develop their leadership skills in a dynamic, customer-focused environment. This is Monday to Friday role, 07:30 to 16:00 and pays up to £32,026 per annum. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Lead and coordinate a team of warehouse operatives, physical logistics coordinators and drivers, managing workloads, attendance, performance, training and day-to-day people matters.
Plan shifts and allocate resources effectively to meet customer requirements, operational priorities and agreed service levels. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact to understand priorities, respond to changing requirements and ensure the operation delivers against expectations.
Monitor and drive operational performance, using KPIs and SLAs to track results, identify issues and take action to maintain high service levels. Make Health & Safety a priority, ensuring compliance with CEVA and customer requirements, supporting incident reporting and continuously driving improvements in safety standards.
Ensure operational compliance across the site, making sure processes and activities are completed in line with CEVA policies, customer requirements and agreed procedures. Coordinate the receipt, despatch and movement of materials, providing hands-on support with material processing and physical movements across the factory when required.
Create and deliver Work Instructions and Risk Assessments, ensuring the team understands the required processes, controls and safe working practices. Ensure SAP and other system transactions are completed accurately and on time, maintaining strong operational and administrative controls. Support the performance and development of your team, including conducting reviews, identifying training needs and addressing attendance or performance issues where required.
Coordinate activities across designated outbases, ensuring consistent processes, communication and service standards. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, helping to improve efficiency, service delivery and the overall customer experience. Work closely with internal teams, other sites and the wider operational network to coordinate resources, priorities and material flow effectively.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally with proven experience supervising or leading a team. You will have a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, strong organisational and people management skills, and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
Experience using warehouse systems, particularly SAP or WMS, is advantageous, along with good IT and PC skills and excellent verbal and written communication. You will be detail-oriented, able to motivate and develop others. Experience working on a customer or client site, a valid MHE Counterbalance licence, and knowledge of stock control systems, LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies would also be desirable.
