Gas Utility/Gas Pipeline Instructor Assistant

Job Title: Gas Utility/Gas Pipeline Instructor Assistant Department: Utility Technician Reports to: Gas Technical Faculty Job Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly), Part Time, Not Benefit Eligible, Less than 19 hours/week Location: Marshalltown Community College, Marshalltown, IA Rate of Pay: $30.00 per hour Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist the Gas Technician Faculty with student training.

The length of employment is routinely the academic year (fall and spring terms) and budget dependent; however, some work may be performed during the summer as needed. Job Duties: Supervise from 6 to 20 students. Part time at training field and field trips Ensure students are working safely and operating tools and equipment safely (trencher, backhoe and mini hoe).

Supervise in the use of hand tools used in the gas industry including a multi-meter. Help evaluate student skills and work ethic and present findings to Gas Instructor. Ability to teach pipeline and utility subjects as needed. Will need to supply own appropriate all-weather gear and PPE.

Education and Experience

Experience in working for a Gas Utility or a Gas pipeline. Certifications and Licenses: Class A CDL is helpful but not necessary. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of CFR192.49 code. NFPA 54 code book, Poly fusion experience, ability to lead students in and out of a classroom environment, good communication skills, and knowledge of house appliances.
