Customer Service Representative

Job Description: CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE PAY GROUP: U5 City of Seguin Pay Schedule SUMMARY OF POSITION : Receives various payments and provides accurate accounting of same; processes applications for initiation, transfer and/or discontinuance of utility services. EXAMPLES OF WORK : Essential Duties* Receives and process various payments through payment windows; Processes applications for initiation, transfer, and/or discontinuance of utility services which includes: entering customer information into the computer assigning services and generating appropriate service orders; Responsible for reconciling own cash drawer daily; Prepares and delivers various bank deposits; Prepares cut off list; Processes and distributes NSF checks and accompanying documentation; Inventories office supplies; Answers inquiries from the public; Responsible for the opening and closing of the cash vault; and Other Important Duties* Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Demonstrated ability to: learn standard computer spreadsheet operation. Ability to: perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy; make mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance; maintain positive attitude and accurate work habits during stressful interactions with the public; prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner; make changes accurately; multitask and work in a fast paced environment; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; work with members of the public in a pleasant and courteous manner; and follow complex instructions.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING : High school graduation or its equivalent; experience in customer service; and one year of related experience to include cash handling and reconciliation; computer experience preferred.
