Junior Chef (Grahamstown)

Our client, a well-established catering company, is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Chef to join their team in Grahamstown. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring culinary professional to work closely with an experienced Head Chef, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced catering environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and production. Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and quality standards. Ensure food is presented attractively and consistently. Assist with stock control, stock rotation, and inventory management. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.

Support catering functions, events, and special occasions as required. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries. Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.

Requirements

Grade 12 (essential). Chef qualification, culinary certificate, or relevant hospitality training advantageous. 1-3 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, catering environment, restaurant, or hospitality operation. Sound understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering quality food. Good communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
