Owner Operator - Wind Energy Transport

Southern Transport is seeking experienced Owner Operators to support wind energy transportation projects throughout the United States. This role involves transporting wind turbine blades, tower sections, nacelles, hubs, and other oversized renewable energy components using specialized transportation equipment. Owner Operators work closely with project managers, dispatch, permit coordinators, route survey teams, escort providers, and customers to safely execute complex transportation projects while maintaining compliance with all permit, DOT, and customer requirements.

Successful candidates have a proven background in wind energy transportation and understand the unique challenges associated with moving oversized renewable energy components. Drivers must be capable of managing specialized trailer systems, navigating complex routes, coordinating with multiple project stakeholders, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Southern provides operational support, permit coordination, customer relationships, and project management resources that allow Owner Operators to focus on safe, efficient execution of high-value transportation projects. Valid CDL Class A driver's license Minimum 3 years of verifiable CDL driving experience Previous experience transporting wind turbine components required Experience hauling wind blades, towers, nacelles, and/or hubs Experience operating specialized wind transport equipment and steerable trailer systems Strong understanding of oversize permits, routing, and escort requirements Knowledge of load securement, weight distribution, and route compliance Acceptable driving record and safety history Ability to travel extensively and work project-based schedules Ability to meet company safety and qualification standards
