Job description

POSITION: Reading Paraeducator * Part-Time: 25 hours per week Putnam Elementary School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dependable individual to join our team as a Reading Paraeducator. This part-time position supports students in developing essential reading skills by providing small group and individual assistance, reinforcing classroom instruction, and encouraging a positive attitude toward reading.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to helping young learners succeed, collaborate closely with teachers, and foster an inclusive, supportive environment where all students can build confidence and grow as readers. Putnam facilitates strong district-wide alignment and support across all three schools in the district to ensure the student's educational experience prepares them for the real world. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Support: Provide targeted individual and small-group reading support under the direction of certified staff.

Skill Reinforcement: Reinforce foundational literacy concepts, phonics, fluency, and comprehension strategies. Classroom Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers and reading specialists to support intervention plans and monitor student growth. Positive Environment: Foster an encouraging, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes confidence in reading skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required). Credentialing: Successful completion of the Para. Pro / Para. Pathways Assessment OR at least 60 college credits (2 years) from an accredited institution (Required). Experience: Experience working in a school system preferred; experience supporting students in reading intervention programs preferred.

Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, empathy, and ability to follow certified staff directives. START DATE: Immediate Opening RATE OF PAY & BENEFITS: Rate of Pay: $20.36 � $22.50 per hour (based on contractual requirements) Benefits: Benefits provided as determined by the bargaining agreement contract.
