THE GROUP OB/GYN FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME OPPORTUNITIES 2 YEARS CNM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Title: Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Reports To: Practice Administration / Physician Leadership FLSA Status: Exempt Summary The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is an important member of The Group’s provider team and provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to our patients throughout all stages of life.

Our CNMs work closely with our OB/GYN physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to provide high-quality, personalized care in both the office and hospital setting. This is a full-scope midwifery position that includes prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, routine gynecologic and preventative care, patient education, and participation in our CNM call rotation.

Our CNMs independently manage appropriate patients while having the support and collaboration of our physician team when higher-risk or more complex care is needed. We are looking for an experienced CNM who enjoys building relationships with patients, values teamwork, and wants to be an active part of a busy, established private OB/GYN practice.

Essential Duties

Essential job duties for this position include the following. Other duties may be performed as assigned or required. Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn, and gynecologic care within the CNM scope of practice. Manage routine and appropriate low-risk pregnancies from the initial prenatal visit through delivery and postpartum care.

Provide office-based prenatal visits, postpartum visits, annual exams, contraception counseling, family planning, and routine gynecologic care. Obtain and document complete patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations. Develop individualized plans of care based on the patient's history, examination, pregnancy, risk factors, and individual needs.

Order, review, and interpret appropriate laboratory testing, ultrasounds, imaging, and other diagnostic studies. Identify abnormal findings or changes in patient status and involve the physician team when consultation, additional evaluation, or transfer of care is appropriate. Evaluate patients presenting with obstetric concerns, including contractions, possible rupture of membranes, bleeding, decreased fetal movement, and other pregnancy-related concerns.

Manage labor and provide ongoing assessment and support throughout the labor process. Interpret fetal monitoring and maternal clinical findings and respond appropriately to changes in maternal or fetal status. Manage and perform spontaneous vaginal deliveries within established privileges and scope of practice. Provide postpartum management and appropriate newborn assessment and care.

Recognize obstetric emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions while collaborating with the physician and hospital care teams. Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Iowa law, CNM prescriptive authority, and practice policies. Perform procedures appropriate to the CNM's education, training, competency, and clinical privileges.

Educate patients and families regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, contraception, medications, preventative care, and other women's health needs. Provide patients with clear education regarding treatment options and encourage shared decision-making. Participate in the CNM call rotation, including weekday, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled.

Provide hospital-based obstetric coverage and remain available and responsive during assigned call responsibilities. Provide thorough handoffs and maintain continuity of care between CNMs, physicians, office staff, and hospital teams. Work closely and collaboratively with The Group's OB/GYN physicians and recognize when physician consultation or involvement is needed.

Maintain strong communication with physicians, fellow CNMs, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the clinical team. Complete patient documentation, orders, prescriptions, messages, test results, and other clinical responsibilities in a timely manner. Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the patient's medical record.

Assist physicians with procedures or patient care as needed. Participate in provider meetings, staff education, quality initiatives, and other practice activities. Participate in office and community education opportunities when appropriate. Help identify opportunities to improve patient care, provider workflows, communication, and the overall patient experience.

Maintain all required state licensure, certification, continuing education, hospital privileges, and credentialing requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all practice policies and procedures. Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with patients, physicians, providers, staff, hospital partners, and others involved in patient care.

Demonstrate flexibility and a team-first approach when assisting with patient care and provider coverage. Support The Group's commitment to providing excellent, compassionate women's healthcare to the Quad Cities and surrounding communities.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nurse-midwifery program. Current certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). Current or eligible for Iowa licensure and prescriptive authority. Minimum of two years of experience practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Experience providing full-scope obstetric care, including labor and delivery.

Current BLS certification. Current NRP certification or ability to obtain as required. Ability to obtain and maintain hospital privileges and payer credentialing. Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize when physician consultation or escalation of care is appropriate. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative provider team. Comfortable working in a busy private-practice environment and managing both scheduled and unexpected patient needs.
