Description Senior Software Engineer – Front-End (Platform Modernization) Location: NYC A mission‑critical operations platform—over 15 years in production and deeply embedded in internal and customer workflows—is undergoing a major modernization. This role focuses on building high‑profile, highly interactive, extremely fast client‑facing web and mobile applications, evolving the portal into a best‑in‑class, AI‑first user interface, and establishing a design system and shared component library used across applications.

Role and Responsibilities Front-End Architecture Design, develop, and maintain a responsive, high‑performance front‑end for the modernized portal, including AI‑assisted customer‑facing surfaces.

Establish architecture patterns, state‑management approaches, build tooling, and testing strategy. Design System & Component Library Create and own a standardized, versioned component library aligned with the UX team’s design system. Establish Storybook as the single source of truth and drive adoption across multiple product and engineering teams to ensure consistent reuse of components, patterns, and design tokens.

Cross-Team Collaboration Partner closely with product managers, designers, back‑end engineers, and other contributors across time zones. Define clean front‑end contracts and component boundaries. UI/UX, Accessibility & Performance Implement best practices in UI/UX, accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization. Own front‑end performance metrics for shipped surfaces.

Modern Web Capabilities Apply modern front‑end technologies (React, Next.js, TypeScript) to deliver fast, responsive, reliable experiences. API & Microservices Integration Integrate front‑end applications with SDKs, public APIs, and back‑end microservices. Collaborate with integration engineers on developer‑facing surfaces.

AI-Augmented Engineering Use AI‑assisted engineering tools to generate, refactor, and validate code, applying judgment to design and architectural decisions. Code Quality & Mentorship Participate in code reviews and uphold high standards for quality, security, and maintainability. Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers.

Prototyping & MVP Development Contribute to rapid prototyping and MVP development as the modernized platform evolves. Desired Qualifications 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong front‑end focus. Deep expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks. Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and front‑end performance optimization.

Experience integrating front‑end applications with APIs and microservices. Demonstrated experience building customer‑facing or developer‑facing UIs as products, with clear articulation of design decisions and trade‑offs. Hands‑on experience building and maintaining shared design systems or component libraries across multiple applications or teams.

Proficiency with Storybook or similar tools for component development, documentation, and testing. Solid background in agile methodologies and DevOps practices. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with distributed, cross‑functional teams.

Nice to Have

Experience publishing design systems as AI‑consumable context (e.g., Chromatic, MCP‑based tooling). Front‑end work on AI‑powered applications (chat interfaces, agentic UIs, streaming responses). Background in enterprise software, telecommunications, or B2B technology. Experience building developer documentation sites or interactive API reference UIs (Docusaurus, Mintlify, Nextra).

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Familiarity with modern web capabilities (PWAs, Server Components, edge rendering). Track record of successful product launches.
