Special Imaging Tech

Position Summary

Performs one or more of the following: Diagnostic Radiology, Diagnostic surgical procedures (primary diagnostic responsibility), Computerized Tomography, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound and/or Mammography. Performs technical aspects of radiography that ultimately lead to completed radiographic procedures with complete clinical history.

Operates radiological equipment in a filmless environment, administering medical x-rays on injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians following accepted procedures and policies.# Checks the technical aspects of radiographs to determine the exactness of position and technique, assists radiologists as needed, prepares study for interpretation, and provides quality patient care.

Education:# Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) and certified by the state of Texas, Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT Training and Experience:# One year hospital experience preferred but not required.# Current BLS certification thru the American Heart Association required.

Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures. Possible exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.
