Job Overview: To provide day-to-day support to academy players, ensuring their well-being, smooth integration, and development within the club environment.
Working closely with the Academy Player Care Manager, this role focuses on logistics needs, welfare, education, personal development, and transition support for young footballers.
Job Responsibilities
Player Welfare and Wellbeing Act as the first point of contact for academy players regarding welfare and personal concerns. Provide emotional and practical support to help players adapt to the academy lifestyle. Support the Academy Player Care Manager in monitoring players’ well-being and addressing any concerns. Assist in the coordination of housing, transportation, and off-field logistics for academy players.
Promote a positive and inclusive environment where players feel safe and supported.
Education
and Academic Support Work closely with schools, tutors, and educational partners to ensure players maintain their academic progress alongside football commitments. Assist in developing personalized additional education plans that align with the academy's schedule. Monitor players' academic performance and provide additional learning resources when necessary.
Support players in balancing their studies and training, ensuring a well-rounded development approach. Personal Development and Life Skills Assist in delivering life skills workshops covering mental health, financial literacy, social media awareness, and personal branding. work with players on their Individual Development Action Plans (IDAPs) to support personal growth.
Help coordinate guest speaker sessions and external learning opportunities. Support the education department in ensuring players balance their academic and football commitments. Induction and Transition Support Assist in the induction process for new academy players, helping them settle into the club. Support players transitioning between age groups and from the academy to senior football or external opportunities.
Work with the Player Care Manager to provide tailored support for released players, offering guidance on career pathways. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding player welfare and education. Collaborate with safeguarding, coaching, medical, and performance staff to ensure a holistic support system for players.
Support the "Player and Parent Voice" initiative, gathering feedback and ensuring a player-centered approach. Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed within the academy. Assist in the reporting and recording of any safeguarding concerns. Help conduct risk assessments for academy trips and off-field activities.
Requirements
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field. Diploma in Sports Management (CIES, FIFA, or LDI accredited) is preferred. Previous experience in Player Care Management. Knowledge of SAFF/MoS regulations is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience working with youth football teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with players and parents. Proven leadership and team management skills are preferred. Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is preferred.
Fluency in English is required; additional languages such as Arabic and Spanish are considered an advantage.
