- Opportunity to join an established engineering team Introduction for Multi-Skilled Engineer Industrial Connected Talent is supporting an established UK manufacturing business in the appointment of an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join its engineering and maintenance team in Epping. This is a hands-on engineering position combining mechanical maintenance, fault finding, planned maintenance, manual machining and support with electrical controls. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns and manufacturing or modifying components using manual lathes and milling machines.
Responsibilities
for Multi-Skilled Engineer As Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will support the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment across the site. You will carry out maintenance, fault finding and repair activity while also supporting manual machining and continuous improvement.
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and minimise production downtime
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment
- Diagnose faults and identify root causes of equipment failures
- Manufacture, repair and modify mechanical components where required
- Set and operate manual centre lathes and vertical milling machines
- Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Support fault finding involving electrical controls, PLCs and drives
- Maintain high standards of health and safety throughout engineering activities Requirements for Multi-Skilled Engineer The ideal candidate will be a practical, hands-on engineer with strong mechanical maintenance and manual machining experience. You should be comfortable working independently within a busy manufacturing environment and confident supporting both reactive and planned engineering activity.
- Recognised engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent
- Experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
- Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance systems
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and controls
- PLC and variable-speed drive exposure would be beneficial
- Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills Manual Machining Experience for Multi-Skilled Engineer Manual machining capability is an important part of this position. Candidates should ideally have at least three years’ experience working with manual milling machines and lathes and be comfortable setting, operating and adjusting machines independently.
