• Career development within a fast-moving engineering environment Introduction for Mechanical Design Engineer Industrial Connected Talent is supporting a rapidly growing industrial automation business in the search for a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a hands-on design role focused on bespoke machinery, automation equipment and robotic systems. The role would suit someone who is strong in mechanical design but also comfortable supporting the wider engineering team and occasionally assisting with mechanical fitting or assembly work.

Responsibilities

for Mechanical Design Engineer As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will produce detailed designs and support the development of bespoke automation machinery from concept through to manufacture. You will work closely with electrical, controls and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, robust and suitable for build.

• Produce accurate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
• Support concept development for bespoke machinery and robotic systems
• Ensure designs consider CE / UKCA machinery requirements
• Work closely with electrical, controls and manufacturing teams
• Apply design-for-manufacture principles across projects
• Support the wider engineering team with occasional fitting or assembly work
• Help ensure projects are delivered against agreed engineering milestones Requirements for Mechanical Design Engineer The ideal candidate will have previous mechanical design experience within automation, machinery or manufacturing. You should be confident using Solid. Works and comfortable working in a small, fast-moving engineering environment where flexibility and a practical approach are important.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within automation, machinery or manufacturing
• Proven mechanical design experience
• Strong Solid. Works capability
• Good understanding of tolerances, engineering principles and design for manufacture
• Willingness to contribute beyond pure design work when required
• Full, valid UK driving licence Desirable Experience for Mechanical Design Engineer
• Experience specifying motors, drives or actuators
• Exposure to robotics or automation projects
• Understanding of motion control or integrated machinery systems
