Construction General Laborer — Temporary Through Thanksgiving Krügel Cobbles, Inc. Employment Type: Temporary, full-time Duration: From hire through Thanksgiving 2026, weather permitting Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Pay: $17.00-$17.50 per hour, based on experience Position Overview Krügel Cobbles is seeking a dependable General Laborer to assist our hardscape crews with outdoor construction projects throughout Chicago’s North Shore and Lake County.

This is a physically demanding position involving regular lifting, bending, digging, and movement throughout the workday. No previous hardscape experience is required. Applicants must be willing to learn, follow instructions, and work safely as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assist with installing patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, and other hardscape features. Load, unload, and move pavers, stone, gravel, sand, tools, and supplies. Assist with digging, excavation, base preparation, grading, and backfilling. Use shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and other tools as directed. Keep job sites, trucks, and work areas clean and organized.

Follow crew foreman instructions and company safety procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment. Assist with other general labor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

and Physical Requirements Reliable attendance, punctuality, and transportation to the designated reporting location. Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with crew members. Willingness to perform repetitive physical work at a steady pace. Ability to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or equipment used as appropriate.

Ability to stand, walk on uneven ground, bend, kneel, shovel, and push wheelbarrows throughout the workday. Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work takes place outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Employees may encounter dust, noise, vibration, muddy or uneven surfaces, and active construction equipment.
