Lecturer Pool – Yiddish – Department of German

Job description

The Department of German at UC Berkeley, in collaboration with Center for Jewish Studies, seeks applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach Yiddish courses in any of the possible areas:

  • Yiddish language courses (of various levels)
  • Upper-level literature/culture courses in such areas as history of Yiddish culture, contemporary Yiddish culture, and related topics In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system (e.g. b. Courses at UC Berkeley, Canvas, etc.). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
