Summary Job Description Covenant Day School is accepting applications for substitutes for the 26-27 school year. Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills and an educational philosophy and Christian worldview consistent with the mission of Covenant Day School. Days and hours of work are variable and dependent upon scheduling needs of regular faculty who must be out of their classrooms.

Essential Functions

and Responsibilities In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms Have an attitude of Christian service and follow biblical and Christian principles and behavior to students, parents, and staff/faculty Follow substitute guidelines and processes as established by Covenant Day School Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned Maintain a neat and orderly classroom Take attendance in accordance with school procedures Ensure that the students are never left unattended in the classroom Follow and support safety and security protocol as established by Covenant Day School Qualifications Committed follower of Jesus Christ reflecting a desire to serve Him and others in work and life Eagerness to serve in a Christian learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship Positive attitude and a genuine love for and ability to connect with school aged students Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and faculty/staff Ability to honor complete confidentiality with al sensitive information that may be encountered when serving Bachelor’s degree preferred and teaching experience beneficial
