Check Out Operator

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join its existing team. Job Purpose The Check Out Operator will ensure efficient, accurate, and courteous processing of customer transactions at the checkout counters. The incumbent will manage customer queues, handle payments, maintain the checkout area, and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately scan and process items using the checkout system, ensuring correct pricing and proper item handling. Manage customer queues to minimize wait times and ensure prompt service. Ensure first-rate packing and handling of items to prevent damage, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area.

Verify prices and discounts to ensure accurate billing and resolve discrepancies as needed. Track and manage products that do not scan at tills, ensuring they are properly categorized. Ensure all products are scanned according to their respective barcodes. Properly manage the cash float ("Fond de Caisse") using it solely for customer exchanges and cash transactions at the point of sale.

Manage daily cash takings, card, and cheque transactions. Assist the Checkout Supervisor in addressing cash differences and reconciling excesses and shortages. Handle cash responsibly, count cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts, and reconcile any discrepancies in collaboration with the cashier team. Job Requirements School Certificate or any other equivalent qualifications Experience in the retail sector will constitute an advantage Ensure accuracy in scanning items, handling payments, and managing cash Commitment to providing high-quality service and addressing customer needs promptly Effective verbal communication skills to engage with customers and colleagues professionally Proactive approach to identifying and resolving transaction and customer service issues Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a clean, orderly checkout area Ability to work under pressure.
