Description Design Workplaces That Inspire Ohio Desk is seeking a talented Project Designer to create functional, inspiring environments where people work, collaborate, heal, and learn. In this role, you will lead interior design projects from concept through installation while partnering with clients, sales professionals, architects, project managers, and installation teams to deliver exceptional spaces and experiences.
What You'll Do
- Design workplace, healthcare, and educational environments that support client goals, culture, functionality, and user experience.
- Develop space plans, furniture layouts, specifications, renderings, presentations, finish selections, and installation drawings.
- Specify Steelcase products and partner solutions while ensuring accuracy, functionality, and design intent.
- Reconfigure existing customer workstations and panel systems and develop accurate bills of material for proposed solutions.
- Conduct field measurements, site assessments, and product inventories to support accurate planning and project execution.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings while coordinating with clients, contractors, project managers, and project partners.
- Develop furniture budgets, finish schedules, tagged drawings, quotations, and project documentation for customer review and approval.
- Utilize CET, AutoCAD and other technology platforms to create and communicate design solutions.
- Support audiovisual, sound masking, architectural wall, modular electrical, and workplace technology solutions through accurate planning and documentation.
- Participate in the bid process by developing cost-effective solutions, compelling visualizations, and timely, accurate quotations.
- Follow established design protocols, quality standards, project budgets, time-tracking requirements, and field verification processes.
- Perform peer reviews and quality checks to ensure the accuracy of specifications, drawings, and quotations before project release.
- Visit customer sites and installations to support project success, troubleshoot issues, and verify design execution when possible.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, project management, order entry, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain current knowledge of design trends, products, building codes, workplace technology, and industry best practices. Why Ohio Desk? Work Environment This is a full-time, office-based position with regular onsite attendance, collaboration, and occasional travel to customer locations. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to travel to customer locations and project sites, move throughout office and construction environments, and occasionally lift or carry materials, product samples, and other project-related items as needed.
Requirements
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA-accredited program.
- 3-5 years of commercial interior design experience required, including space planning, furniture specification, and project coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and design software such as CET and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
- A professional, customer-focused, and collaborative approach.
- A desire to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a team-oriented culture.
