Job description

Our client is an indigenous Oil and Gas Engineering / Construction (Pipeline & Facilities) service company.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Material Coordinator to manage and oversee the end-to-end supply chain material workflow, including receiving, inventory control, tracking, and issuance of project materials. The ideal candidate will ensure that all piping components, structural steel, equipment, and consumables required for our engineering and construction projects are accurately accounted for, inspected, and readily available to support site execution without delay.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute material management and control procedures aligned with company project execution and operational objectives. Identify, track, and reconcile material requirements by cross-referencing Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs) with purchase orders and site deliveries. Coordinate and manage relationships with procurement officers, warehouse teams, logistics vendors, and site engineers.

Lead the end-to-end material receipt process, including physical offloading, inspection, verification of Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), and logging of heat numbers/grades alongside QA/QC inspectors. Implement strategic inventory control and storage standards at the Sagamu yard and project sites to prevent damage, deterioration, or loss of materials.

Drive efficient material issuance through approved Material Requisition Vouchers (MRVs) to fabrication and construction teams, ensuring accurate consumption tracking and scrap reconciliation. Monitor logistics timelines, shipping statuses, and port clearance progress to inform project management and procurement teams of potential bottlenecks.

Collaborate with Procurement, QA/QC, Project Management, and HSE teams to deliver effective site material solutions and maintain safe yard operations. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Material Status Register (MSR) / inventory database and provide regular inventory performance and stock level reports.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. 3 to 5+ years of progressive experience in material coordination, warehouse management, or inventory control, preferably within the oil & gas, EPC, heavy manufacturing, or construction sector.

Proven track record of managing bulk industrial materials (e.g., carbon/stainless steel pipes, HDPE pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, and structural steel) and verifying technical documentation (Mill Test Certificates). Strong understanding of oil & gas project supply chains, warehousing safety standards, and inventory auditing.

Excellent organization, documentation, communication, and cross-functional stakeholder management skills. Strong operational acumen, attention to detail, and results orientation. Proficiency in inventory management software/ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools (especially advanced Excel for tracking registers).
