Materials Manager
Job description
Description JOB SUMMARY: Manages and maintains inventory and utilization of inventory for all departments of the Hospital. Communicates and negotiates on behalf of the Hospital at the request of administration with vendors for the purchasing of all supplies, materials, equipment, and services utilized by the Hospital.
Communicates and work autonomously at times. Build and maintain a more efficient inventory system.
Essential functions
Ownership of the purchasing and materials department. Coordinate with department managers on inventory levels and utilization levels to maintain daily operations without disruption. Anticipate future supply chain disruptions and work with administration to mitigate any issues that could disrupt daily operations. Responsible for receiving and checking all deliveries in a timely manner.
Responsible for creating purchase orders and getting the appropriate sign-off. Research new products at the request of administration and department managers. Recommend cost savings where appropriate. Negotiate pricing contracts with vendors or buying groups. Maintain loading dock and storage areas, keeping a clean and organized area.
Meet with vendors. Coordination and delivery of supplies to all department areas. Manage all inter-office mail, prepare any outgoing packages. Build and maintain efficient inventory system. Annual hospital inventory counts for accounting. Follow all hospital policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Ability to prioritize and complete detailed tasks in a timely manner. Able to be flexible with changing priorities and timelines as they occur. Fiscal responsibility and restraint with inventory ordering. Punctual attendance is mandatory; work schedule can be flexible. Complete annual education requirements. Attend all meetings as directed.
Travel (occasionally), reimbursed mileage rate. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices This position is responsible for wholehearted, genuine operations of all aspects of the safety and health program – including compliance with rules and regulations- and for continuously practicing safety and health while performing their duties Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances Education/Experience Requirements: Minimum high school diploma or GED.
Management or supervisory experience preferred. Computer and information systems knowledge required. 1+ years’ experience in purchasing or related field preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting, lifting, reading, standing, walking, and writing Requires occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more and bending Requires normal vision range Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Requires repetitive motion
