Job Summary

Under the general supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy technician is responsible for providing technical support to ensure appropriate pharmaceutical care for patients of Mason Health. Job Specific Duties # Responsibilities: Works under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist according to state and federal laws Ensures appropriate distribution of medications for both inpatients and outpatients.

This includes but is not limited to sterile compounding, bar code scanning, and automated dispensing devices. Inputs outpatient prescriptions Fills inpatient and outpatient medications Orders medications and ensures appropriate inventory for operations Pre-packaged medications Practices sterile compounding according to USP 797 guidelines Bills patients and departments for medications Provide assistance to other healthcare practitioners such as nurses, respiratory therapists, etc.

Performs medication history inquiries for medication reconciliation (specialized duty) Performs support and assistance with prescription assistance program(s), including, but not limited to, working with patients on applications, requesting prior authorizations, coordinating applications and appeals, managing complex cases, and tracking and distributing program information (including O-Drive requests); and assisting with vaccines.

(specialized duty) Other duties as assigned. Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current Washington state Pharmacy Technician license.
