Nursing Assistant

Position Summary

Assists professional nursing staff by performing specific resident care tasks, within the scope of practice from Certified Nursing Assistant.

Qualifications

A. Education:High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the# department. The Nursing Assistant will be listed with the Texas#Department of Health Nurse Aid Registry required. # B. Training and Experience:

1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American#Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or transfer to the department#required.
2. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within#three (3) months of hire.
3. Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months#of hire or transfer to the department: # Unit orientation # Unit safety # Attendance requirements # Code Blue participation # Safe, effective patient care: patient identification, vital signs,#inputs/outputs, personal care, bed-making, patient transfer and#reporting # Appropriate and timely documentation # Effective time management, organizational and prioritization#skills # Technical skills including equipment use # Body substance isolation # Age specific care # Professional communication # Restraint Training # Practice safe handling for patients receiving chemotherapy Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions: A. Ability to perform:
