OEA represents more than 100,000 teachers, faculty members and support professionals who work in Ohio’s schools, colleges, and universities to help improve public education and the lives of Ohio’s children. OEA members provide a wide range of professional education services in communities throughout the state. The Ohio Education Association is seeking a person for a challenging and rewarding position as a Membership Specialist.

The Membership Specialist is a critical role in the organization responsible for providing concierge-level customer service to our members, reconciling, and processing membership data, gathering membership information, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining documentation.

Essential Functions

Uses current computer software applications and equipment to enter member and other data and process information in accordance with Association policies and procedures Provides customer service to members and callers Reconciles customer accounts and makes adjustments according to Association policies Creates and/or maintains documentation via paper and electronic filing systems Initiates contact for the purpose of reconciling local accounts Reviews and proofreads data; notes errors or discrepancies; initiates corrective action and follow-up Significant Duties: Performs duties via phone and through various software applications Provides support for organizing plans and practices for engaging members Maintains confidential records and files Operates in a collaborative team environment Communicates information to managers, co-workers and others in person, by telephone, in written form or e-mail Attends staff meetings and trainings Provides input into decision-making as it impacts associate staff functions Assists with development of written documentation for process improvements and training manuals Performs basic mathematical calculations Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency, associate’s degree preferred Familiarity with an accounting environment and/or use of computer systems, databases and computer software applications Perform accurate data entry into multiple databases Ability to communicate effectively and professionally Ability to cross train with other Business Services Division staff within the same position grade Benefits: FICA Pick-Up Eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision FIRST DAY PTO: 11 Holidays, Personal, Sick, Vacation, and Parental Leave Retirement: 401K, Defined Contribution, HRA, FSA Casual Work Attire & FREE Parking Authority and Relationships: Responsible to the immediate supervisor; recommends policy and procedure changes to and through the immediate supervisor.
