Culinary Worker II

Job Summary

San Luis Coastal USD is building an eligibility list for the position of Culinary Worker II. The eligibility list will be used to fill any vacancies that occur over a six-month period. People in the Culinary Worker II assignment perform a full range of food preparation and serving duties; clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and facilities; provide lead supervision of student assistants and assigned food service staff.

Assignments are typically 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Total work hours assigned are dependent on site and department need. SLCUSD offers generous benefits packages including medical/dental/vision options, CalPERS retirement, paid time off, and more!

/ Qualifications Applications must be complete. The document(s) listed below are preferred. Food Handler's Certificate (Attach certificate if you possess, include score on back of certificate. Candidates who do not possess the certificate can obtain one within 90 days of hire. ) Letter(s) of Recommendation (OPTIONAL/PREFERRED: One letter of recommendation from a professional reference, signed, and preferably on letterhead.

Additional letters may be attached at the candidate's discretion.) Resume (If application does not show experience for this position, please submit a resume including dates that you have worked at each location.) Comments and Other Information PURPOSE: To establish an Eligibility List for the Culinary Worker II position, to fill any vacancies that may occur over a six-month period.

WORK YEAR: 181 school days from August to June. 194 paid days (181 work days plus 13 paid vacations). Summer work opportunities available. Fingerprint and TB clearances, and a pre-employment physical will be required prior to starting work. EXAMS FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE SCHEDULED INDIVIDUALLY AFTER THE APPLICATION DEADLINE.

A) 40%

• A written examination covering skills, knowledge, and abilities required of a Food Service Worker. B) 60%
• An oral interview, covering personal qualifications, experience and training. C) Candidates who pass the exam and oral boards will be added to the eligibility list for the recruitment, and the top three ranks of candidates will proceed to a hiring interview when a position becomes available. SPECIAL NOTES:

1. Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process.
2. Applicants with disabilities must notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing.
3. Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard, in time of war, or national emergency.
4. Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months. *Employees holding a position (or combination of positions) of 36 hours per week or more are required to enroll in a health benefits plan. Information on plans and premiums is located on our webpage.
