IT Support Specialist
Job description
The IT Support Specialist will be a proactive problem-solver responsible for the entire IT operations covering employee IT lifecycle management including onboarding and offboarding, cloud and systems administration, IT asset management, IT governance, and strategic planning. The role requires a hands-on professional who can support daily operations while also building structured policies, secure systems, and scalable IT practices to support the company’s growth.
This position will act as the primary owner of internal IT systems, ensuring operational continuity, data security, cost control, and alignment between IT strategy and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- End-User Support & Employee IT Lifecycle Act as the primary point of contact for all internal IT support and helpdesk requests. Manage complete IT onboarding for new employees, including device preparation, account creation, and software provisioning. Manage IT offboarding processes, ensuring secure data handling, license recovery, and asset retrieval Provide basic hardware support including system setup, upgrades, and peripheral configuration. Provision and de-provision software tools and licenses based on role requirements. Ensure secure offboarding, including account deactivation, data handling, and asset recovery. Coordinate with HR and relevant departments to ensure smooth transitions. Prepare, configure, and deploy laptops and required hardware for new employees. Create and manage user accounts, email addresses, access permissions, and security groups.
- Systems & Tools Administration Administer user access and permissions on platforms such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Support collaboration tools and internal systems (e.g., project management or document-sharing platforms). Assist in managing software subscriptions, renewals, and license utilization.
- Hardware & Software Inventory Management Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, and accessories Track software licenses, renewals, and compliance Manage procurement, deployment, replacement, and disposal of IT equipment Perform regular audits of hardware & software inventory and ensure assets are tagged, assigned, and documented correctly
- Cloud Infrastructure and Data Management Administer Google Cloud Platform (GCP) resources supporting the company’s ERP and internal systems. Manage cloud compute, storage, networking, and identity & access management (IAM). Oversee cloud and data backup solutions, including Google Drive and email archiving.
- Security & Operations Support Assist in endpoint security, system updates, and patching activities. Support backup processes and basic disaster recovery procedures. Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and security best practices. Assist in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and rollout of new tools. Liaise with external vendors and service providers. Continuously identify opportunities to improve IT processes and user experience.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3–4 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk roles Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems Experience with user account management (e.g., Active Directory, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and asset management Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with ticketing systems (e.
g., Jira, Service. Now, Freshservice) Familiarity with endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, Jamf) Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) Understanding of IT security principles and experience in making IT SOPs & policies IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Apple) are a plus Soft Skills Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills Excellent communication and customer service mindset Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively High attention to detail and documentation handling Ability to work independently and collaboratively
