Grounds & Maintenance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our Grounds & Maintenance team. This permanent position plays an important role in maintaining the College's buildings, grounds and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors.

You will undertake a diverse range of groundskeeping, maintenance and facility support activities across the College campus.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of College buildings, grounds and facilities in accordance with maintenance schedules and WHS requirements Perform gardening and landscaping duties, including planting, weeding, garden bed preparation and turf maintenance. Maintain sports grounds, gardens and outdoor spaces to a high standard.

Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping machinery and equipment, including ride-on mowers, blowers, edgers and other maintenance tools. Undertake general repairs, preventative maintenance and minor construction works across the College. Support contractor management, including coordinating site access and compliance requirements.

Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the campus through litter collection, waste management and recycling activities. Assist with workplace inspections, hazard identification and remediation activities. Respond to maintenance, security and emergency situations, including occasional out-of-hours requirements. Actively participate in College activities, training and professional development opportunities.

You enjoy working collaboratively, can manage competing priorities, and are committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, building maintenance or handyman services.

Knowledge of garden, turf and landscape maintenance practices. Experience operating and maintaining plant, machinery and maintenance equipment safely. Skills in minor construction, repairs, installations and preventative maintenance. A strong commitment to Work Health and Safety principles and safe work practices. Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable qualifications and experience include training in Manual Handling, WHS, Working at Heights and possession of a White Card.
