• Registered Nurse to Registered Midwife Pathway Are you a passionate Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in Midwifery and Women's Health? Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton is seeking expressions of interest from dedicated internal nurses who are ready to embark on an exciting career pathway into Midwifery. We are proud to offer one fully funded Midwifery Scholarship to support a Registered Nurse in completing a Graduate Certificate in Midwifery through a university of their choice, in agreement with Mater Rockhampton. This is a unique opportunity to develop specialist skills, gain hands-on experience within our maternity services, and build a rewarding career caring for women and their families throughout their pregnancy and postnatal journey. Our Maternity and Women's Unit is committed to delivering exceptional care for women, babies and families throughout the pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey. The service features three fully equipped birth suites, 20 private postnatal rooms with ensuites, and a Level 4 Special Care Nursery with six beds , providing specialised support for newborns requiring additional care. In addition to maternity services, the unit cares for gynaecology patients and a range of paediatric surgical patients, predominantly ENT and dental, offering a diverse and rewarding clinical environment within a supportive, family-centred team.

Throughout your studies, you'll work alongside our experienced maternity team, gaining practical experience and developing the competencies required for endorsement and registration as a Registered Midwife. In return for this investment in your future, successful applicants will commit to working with Mater Rockhampton as a Registered Midwife for 18 months following completion of the program.

Eligibility Requirements Applicants must: Be a current Mater Registered Nurse Hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse. Obtain acceptance into an approved Graduate Certificate in Midwifery program. Demonstrate a commitment to completing study requirements through a flexible learning model over 12-18 months.

Be able to commence studies no later than February 2027. Commit to remaining employed with Mater as a Registered Midwife following attainment of registration and endorsement. Following successful completion of your Graduate Certificate in Midwifery and registration as a Registered Midwife, you will commit to providing a minimum of 18 months of service with Mater Rockhampton in a Registered Midwife position at a minimum 0.
