Mel Trotter Ministries is a faith-based, nonprofit organization committed to providing safe shelter and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. We work to create a structured, respectful environment where each person is treated with dignity and care.

The Mission on a Plate

As our AM Lead Cook, you’ll help keep our kitchen running smoothly so guests receive nourishing meals served with dignity. You’ll set the pace on the line, keep recipes and portions consistent, and coordinate prep so service stays on time. You’ll also help maintain a clean, organized workspace and support a team culture where coaching is welcomed and encouragement is freely given.

Required skills/qualifications:

• 2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen preferred
• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Takes direction and coaching with humility
• Offers positive reinforcement to others readily

Your Kitchen Rhythm

You’ll start by checking the day’s menu and getting the kitchen set—music optional, standards not. As the day moves, you’ll bounce between quick check-ins, tasting for consistency, and adjusting the flow so things stay calm even when it’s busy. You’ll wrap up by making sure the space is reset for the next shift: labels in place, temps logged, and everything ready to roll again.
