Primary Vocal Music Educator: The Voice of Joy Location: Walnut Grove Elementary School, Griffith Elementary, Traveling Walnut Grove and Duchesne Elementary Year: 2026-2027 School Year The Opportunity: Finding Their Voice In our primary buildings, music is more than a subject�it's a language. We are looking for a vibrant, creative Vocal Music Teacher who can turn a classroom into a world of rhythm, melody, and movement.
For many of our students, you will be the first person to teach them that their voice has power. As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you won't just be teaching solfege; you will be joining a visionary team dedicated to equity and innovation. Role Summary
As a Primary Vocal Music Teacher, you will lead the music program within one of our seven dedicated primary schools (PreK-2). You will facilitate a high-energy, student-centered environment that focuses on foundational vocal technique, steady beat, and creative play. Working collaboratively with families and colleagues, you will create a joyful learning experience that builds confidence in our youngest scholars.
Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Music (K-12). Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master's degree, preferred. Early Childhood Specialist: You understand the developmental needs of 5-to-8-year-olds and know how to keep them engaged through movement and play-based learning.
Equity Champion: You are committed to a diverse repertoire that reflects the cultures and backgrounds of our 10,000 students. STEAM-Ready: You are excited to explore the science of sound and the patterns of rhythm with our curious learners. Your Impact (Key Duties) Inspire Harmony: Design and deliver engaging lessons that focus on matching pitch, rhythmic accuracy, and the joy of singing.
Move & Groove: Incorporate Orff, Kod�ly, or other active music-making philosophies to keep students physically engaged in the learning process. Utilize Resources: Leverage our district's unique assets, like Little Creek Nature Area, to explore the music of the natural world. Collaborate: Partner with Grade-Level PLCs to integrate music with literacy and social-emotional learning goals.
Showcase Success: Coordinate "Informance" events and school-wide programs that celebrate student growth and bring our neighborhoods together. Your Leadership Partners Primary Support: Building Principal Instructional Support: District Fine Arts Coordinator and Building Leadership Team The Logistics of Your Success Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar, 187 Contract Days Salary: $45,066 - $71,946 Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education.
