Research Assistant

Key Accountabilities: المسؤوليات الرئيسية Maintain the project work plan, sampling schedule, progress tracker, meeting records and operational documentation, and coordinate routine follow-up with participating sites and external laboratories. Support the development, pilot testing and implementation of SOPs. Support farm-visit logistics and assist authorised veterinarians with the examination and ethically approved sampling.

Maintain animal welfare, biosafety, sample integrity and chain of custody, and promptly document and escalate incidents, missing data, protocol deviations or operational risks. Monitor stocks, support procurement and maintain safe, clean and audit-ready work areas. Maintain secure, backed-up and version-controlled metadata.

Contribute to reports, SOPs, presentations, manuscripts, conference outputs and stakeholder dissemination, with authorship determined under accepted research standards. Maintain complete and reproducible research records; complete required training; comply with ethics, safety, data-protection and University requirements; and undertake other appropriate project duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Perform laboratory procedures including sample preparation, nucleic-acid extraction, sample inventory management, and preparation of materials for shipment to approved analytical facilities. Assist in data cleaning, management, preliminary statistical analysis, figure preparation, and reporting under supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Required Qualification & Experience: المؤهلات والخبرات المطلوبة Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, Animal Science, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry or a related discipline; a relevant master’s degree is preferred.

At least one year of relevant research, diagnostic-laboratory or field experience in animal health, molecular biology, microbiome research or a related area. Willingness to travel and work flexibly for time-sensitive sampling; experience with camels or other large livestock is desirable. Familiarity with multi-omics, R or statistical software, basic bioinformatics or scientific writing is desirable.

Proficiency in English is required; Arabic and a valid UAE driving licence are advantageous. شهادة بكالوريوس في الطب البيطري، أو علوم الحيوان، أو البيولوجيا الجزيئية، أو علم الأحياء الدقيقة، أو التقنية الحيوية، أو العلوم الطبية الحيوية، أو الكيمياء الحيوية، أو أي تخصص ذي صلة؛ ويُفضّل الحصول على شهادة ماجستير في تخصص ذي صلة.

خبرة لا تقل عن سنة واحدة في مجال البحث، أو التشخيص المخبري، أو العمل الميداني في صحة الحيوان، أو البيولوجيا الجزيئية، أو أبحاث الميكروبيوم، أو أي مجال ذي صلة. الاستعداد للسفر والعمل بمرونة لأخذ العينات في أوقات محددة؛ ويُفضّل وجود خبرة في التعامل مع الإبل أو غيرها من الماشية الكبيرة. يُفضّل الإلمام بتقنيات علم الجينوم المتعدد، أو لغة البرمجة R ، أو البرامج الإحصائية، أو أساسيات المعلوماتية الحيوية، أو الكتابة العلمية.

إتقان اللغة الإنجليزية شرط أساسي؛ وإتقان اللغة العربية ورخصة قيادة سارية المفعول في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ميزة إضافية.
