Description of Responsibilities The Packaging Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy. This role focuses on accurately packaging medications generally for shipping and delivery. The technician ensures medications are correctly labeled, packaged and prepared for distribution to patients, providers and other recipients.

The technician will ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

of the Packaging Pharmacy Technician include the following: Demonstrates a knowledge regarding processing and filling prescriptions across all departments. Standards for accuracy and completeness shall be consistently met. Prescriptions services will be provided in an orderly, efficient, and expeditious manner. Accurately package medications according to prescription and pharmacy standards.

Ensure that all medications are labeled with the patient information, dosage instructions, beyond-use or expiration dates and other required documentation. Prepare medications for shipping, coordinating with recipients for pickup, delivery or shipment. Assist in tracking shipments and updating delivery status when needed.

Maintain manifests of all packaged medications and other records associated with the pickup or delivery of medications. Manage hub packaging operations, coordinating with various teams to ensure accurate and timely packaging and delivery. Implement and maintain hub packaging protocols and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality and safety standards.

Flexibility in the daily work environment is crucial. Work assignments may vary from day to day based on changing needs and personnel availability. The proper disposition is expected and is a key component in the provision of healthcare operations and services. Coordination with other departmental teams should be expected and is required.

Support for inventory control in the assigned areas is expected. Assist with ordering and restocking of packaging materials and supplies. Follow all pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and USP guidelines (where applicable). Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and participate in safety training and quality assurance programs.

Participation in routine personnel meetings is expected. In addition, periodic involvement in quality assurance monitoring/reporting as well as other reporting functions may be necessary. Demonstrate team spirit. Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the partners or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications

Tennessee-registered Pharmacy Technician; certification is preferred. Minimum two years experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred. Computer skills that include word processing and efficient use of the internet and e-mail. Current, unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacy Technician license. Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to lift up to at least 30 pounds.
