• The Dairy Manager at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dairy department. This role involves supervising and training dairy clerks, managing inventory levels, ensuring proper product storage and cleanliness, and maintaining food safety and compliance standards. The Dairy Manager will also handle customer inquiries and complaints, drive department sales, and achieve labor and profitability goals through effective merchandising strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the dairy department to ensure efficiency and productivity.
• Supervise and train dairy clerks to maintain high standards of customer service and department performance.
• Manage inventory levels, order products, and ensure proper stock rotation to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
• Maintain storage conditions, including temperature control, cleanliness, and organization, to ensure product quality and safety.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, addressing any issues promptly.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and orders professionally to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Drive department sales and achieve labor and profitability goals through effective merchandising and promotional strategies.
• Monitor and track department performance metrics, including sales and profitability, to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments and management to align department goals with overall store objectives.
• Maintain strong communication and coordination within the team to ensure smooth department operations.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma or GED Preferred Education:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in food service management, business, or retail management
• Helpful Certifications: Food safety or handling certifications (e.g., Serv. Safe) Required Experience:
• Minimum: 3–5 years of experience in retail or grocery, preferably in a dairy department Preferred Experience:
• Prior experience as a Dairy Clerk or Department Lead - 1–2+ years of supervisory or management experience
• Experience with inventory control, ordering, and department operations Required Skills and Abilities:
• Leadership
• Knowledge of dairy products and proper storage
• Expertise in food safety, sanitation, and compliance
