EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR Temporary Part-time Approximately 4 months Location: St. Michael's Catholic School The County of Hastings is currently accepting applications for Temporary Part-time Early Childhood Educator at the County Administration Building . The Primary function is adhering to legislative requirement, this position is responsible to provide a program to assist children to achieve optimum physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.
DUTIES Plan and implement learning activities to meet the Ministry of Education’s requirements and provide a wide range of stimulating materials and activities. Oversee activities that foster all areas of a child’s emotional, cognitive, social and physical development. Supervise children and focus on the individual development of each child.
Observe, evaluate and identify their unique needs. Liaise and work co-operatively with a diverse range of professionals and other members of the community. Including school staff, special education coordinators, resource consultants, parents and licensing officials. Uphold and ensure all Ministry regulations as outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
Ensure supplies and equipment are organized, clean and well maintained. Plan healthy snack options using Canada’s Food Guide, purchase groceries, prepare and serve to the children in a sanitary environment. Provide temporary coverage for programs in all county run programs when required. Other duties as may be required from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post Secondary School Early Childhood Education Diploma, Child and Youth Care Diploma or Recreation and Leisure Diploma Must be a member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators OR member in good standing with the College of Teachers Participate and be successful in all other training as required by the College of ECE and the County of Hastings.
Participate and be successful in all training made mandatory by the College of ECE, College of Teachers if you are a member in good standing, participate and be successful in all other training as required by the County of Hastings Ability to effectively supervise large groups of children. Must possess up to date First Aid and CPR certification.
Current immunizations are required. Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check -must be dated within 30 days of hire Ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, co-workers and outside agencies. Excellent interpersonal skills with a primary focus on attributes related to interacting with children to foster an environment conducive to their wellbeing.
Must possess a current valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation. Must have a desire to supervise, assist and have a genuine interest and caring approach with pre-school children. Must possess valid “G” drivers’ license and have access to transportation. Up to date - immunization, First Aid/CPR certification and clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check Other training as required by the College of ECE and the County of Hastings Similar post secondary courses may be considered HOURS OF WORK: 2:15pm - 5:15pm as per Article 19 of the Collective Agreement WAGE RANGE: $28.
