Regional Lead Technician

About the Company We are a fast-growing Kenyan startup providing vehicle tracking and security solutions for individuals, businesses, and fleet operators. Our offerings include GPS tracking, remote immobilization, anti-theft devices, and fleet management systems. We are looking for a Lead Technician to lead our technical team, oversee installations, ensure quality service delivery, and maintain high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Supervision Supervise a team of installation technicians and technical assistants. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of projects. Mentor and train technicians on best installation practices, safety procedures, and new technologies. Conduct regular performance reviews and recommend skills development programs.
- Installation & Maintenance Oversight Plan, oversee, and sometimes personally execute GPS tracking device and security system installations. Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and comply with manufacturer guidelines. Manage large-scale fleet installation projects and coordinate technician deployment.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support Provide advanced troubleshooting support for hardware and connectivity issues. Resolve escalated technical challenges from technicians in the field. Liaise with the senior management team for system integrations and updates.
- Inventory & Equipment Management Monitor stock levels of devices, tools, and installation materials. Ensure technicians have the right tools and resources for their assignments. Keep accurate records of all equipment issued to team members.
- Client Interaction & Relationship Management Attend to high-profile client installations and service calls. Provide technical advice and recommendations to customers. Handle escalated technical complaints professionally and promptly.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation Stay up to date with emerging trends in vehicle security technology. Recommend new products, tools, and processes to improve efficiency. Monitor team productivity and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
& Skills Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field. 5+ years hands-on experience in vehicle electronics installations (GPS tracking, alarms, immobilizers, CCTV). Proven experience leading and supervising a team of technicians. Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
Familiarity with GPS tracking software and fleet management systems. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Valid driving license (preferred).
