PRN Mental Health Technician

Job Overview As a Mental Health Technician on the Behavioral Health Unit, you’ll support nurses and clinical staff in caring for adults experiencing acute emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric difficulties. You’ll assist with daily care, safety monitoring, therapeutic interactions, and documentation to ensure patients receive safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

What You’ll Do Support patient safety through observation and rounding Assist with hygiene, mobility, and daily care needs Document patient behavior and care accurately Assist with crisis intervention under RN direction Work in environments involving sensitive emotional and behavioral situations Safely lift or move up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodation) About the Behavioral Health Unit The Behavioral Health Unit is a 10‑bed inpatient unit caring for adults experiencing acute emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric crises.

With a small, skilled team and strong multidisciplinary collaboration, the unit provides focused, patient‑centered care in a calm, structured environment ideal for building therapeutic and behavioral health skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred Associate’s degree in psychology or related field preferred Previous experience in healthcare or psychiatric settings preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
