Senior Research Officer

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. With 51 offices globally, including 13 in the Chinese Mainland, the HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub. The HKTDC organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the mainland and international markets.

The HKTDC also provides up-to-date market insights and product information via research reports and digital news channels. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2026 and begin a new three-year business cycle, our mission remains as strong as ever to help Hong Kong thrive in trade and businesses succeed in the ever-changing landscape .

Responsibilities

Assist a team of economists with conducting desktop research and quantitative surveys Manage survey data and tabulations, and help prepare presentation materials Undertake preliminary assessments on assigned research subjects and draft research reports, particularly the Chinese economy topics Assist in quantitative surveys and analysis based on instructions from the economists Aid in managing Hong Kong and international economic and trade data Conduct comprehensive searches for macroeconomic data and market information as necessary, supporting researchers in developing insightful market analysis and forecasts Requirements: A university degree, preferably in economics, finance, or a related discipline with a solid research knowledge Proficiency in SPSS is an advantage, along with skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and database management software Good command of English and Chinese, and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential 1-3 years of relevant experiences Candidates with less solid experiences will be offered as Research Officer Remuneration and Benefits: The successful candidate will be appointed on fixed-term contract basis, renewable subject to operational needs.
