Head of Finance

COMPANY Pace helps leading insurers run complex operations through AI agents and expert human review. Financial institutions spend nearly $400 billion annually on outsourced work. We’re building technology to transform those operations alongside some of the largest insurers in the world. ROLE We’re looking for a Head of Finance to build and lead the finance function at Pace.

You’ll work directly with the founders on how we plan, invest, and scale. You’ll own our financial model, bring clarity to the economics of our business, and build the reporting and controls that support sound decisions. This is a hands-on role with broad ownership. You’ll move between evaluating a major commercial agreement, planning headcount, preparing board materials, and making sure our books and cash forecasts are accurate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own financial planning: Build and maintain our operating model, budget, and forecasts. Connect hiring and investment decisions to revenue, margins, cash, and runway.
• Understand our unit economics: Partner with Engineering and Applied AI to measure the cost of delivering customer workflows, including model usage, infrastructure, deployment, and human review. Identify opportunities to improve margins as we scale.
• Shape commercial decisions: Work with GTM and leadership on pricing, contract economics, payment terms, and profitability across customers and use cases.
• Build the finance function: Own accounting, close, financial reporting, treasury, tax coordination, and controls, working with external partners and building internal capabilities as needed.
• Support the board and investors: Prepare financial materials, communicate performance clearly, and lead financial diligence and planning for future financing.
• Make finance work efficiently: Partner with Business Operations on payments, invoicing, procurement, and financial systems. Use automation to improve accuracy and reduce manual work. YOUR BACKGROUND
• Experience leading finance or strategic finance at a growing technology company.
• Strong financial modeling skills and a track record of turning analysis into operating decisions.
• Fluency across accounting, cash management, and business economics, with the judgment to know when specialist support is needed.
• Experience partnering with founders and functional leaders on budgets, hiring, and resource allocation.
• Clear communication and the ability to explain financial tradeoffs to technical and commercial teams.
• Willingness to build processes yourself and stay close to the details.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with usage-based revenue, AI infrastructure costs, or businesses that combine software and service delivery.
• Experience supporting enterprise pricing and complex commercial agreements.
• Exposure to fundraising, board reporting, or international operations.
• Experience building a finance function from an early stage.
