AS400 Developer

Overview

The Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. They work primarily with RPG (RPG III/IV, RPGLE, Free-Format RPG), CL/CLLE, DB2 for i, SQL, and IBM i system utilities to build and enhance business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and maintain AS400/IBM i applications. Write and optimize RPG, CL, SQL, and DB2 programs. Analyze business requirements and provide technical solutions. Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis. Support system integrations, data migration, and application modernization efforts. Collaborate with business users, analysts, and cross-functional teams.

Required Experience 5+ years of experience with IBM i (AS400) development. Strong proficiency in RPGLE, Free-Format RPG, CLLE, DB2/400, and embedded SQL. Experience with application support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Knowledge of system interfaces, APIs, and batch processing. Familiarity with modernization tools and integration with web-based applications is a plus.
