Job description

Job Title Legal Contract Manager Department IT management support Time Type Full time Role Summary The Legal Contract Manager will support the Legal function in managing the day-to-day contractual and administrative legal requirements of the business across Europe. The role will have primary responsibility for the efficient management and review of routine and repeat commercial contracts based on the company’s approved templates and standard contractual positions.

The role will also coordinate day-to-day matters with external legal advisers, notaries and other legal service providers, and provide operational cover for the company’s legal systems and processes when required. The role holder should become the first point of contact for routine contract administration and standard-form contractual matters, allowing the Legal function to operate more efficiently while maintaining appropriate legal oversight.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Legal Counsel and business stakeholders, handling routine matters independently within established guidelines and escalating non-standard, complex or higher-risk matters to Legal Counsel. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone with good commercial and legal awareness who is comfortable working independently within defined parameters and managing a high volume of contracts and legal matters.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Review and Management Review routine and repeat commercial contracts using the company’s approved templates, standard terms and legal playbooks. Manage standard-form contracts through the review, amendment, approval and execution process. Review contracts against established legal and commercial guidelines and identify deviations from approved templates or standard positions.

Make appropriate amendments to routine contracts within agreed parameters. Identify legal, commercial or contractual issues that fall outside the individual’s authority or experience and escalate them promptly to Legal Counsel. Coordinate contract comments and approvals with relevant internal stakeholders, including Procurement, Sales, Commercial, Finance, IT and other business functions.

Maintain accurate records of contract status, approvals, execution and related documentation. Support the development and maintenance of standard contract templates, clause libraries, checklists and other contract-management resources. Assist with contract administration and other legal tasks associated with the company’s European operations.

External Counsel, Notaries and Legal Service Providers Manage day-to-day communications and administrative matters with external law firms, notaries and other legal service providers. Coordinate notarisation, legalisation, certification and similar formalities where required. Assist Legal Counsel with the organisation and administration of external legal matters.

Legal Systems and Processes Provide routine administration and support for the company’s legal systems and contract-management tools. Act as a back-up administrator for the legal system when the primary internal administrator is unavailable. Support the implementation and improvement of legal processes, workflows and internal procedures.

Legal Team Support Support Legal Counsel in managing the Legal team’s day-to-day workload. Provide general administrative and operational support to the Legal function when required. Risk Identification and Escalation A key responsibility of the role will be to distinguish between matters that can be dealt with independently and matters requiring Legal Counsel’s involvement.

The successful candidate will be expected to: Recognise when a contract has materially departed from the company’s approved template or standard position. Identify potentially significant issues relating to areas such as liability, indemnities, intellectual property, confidentiality, data protection, governing law, termination and payment.

Escalate unusual, complex or high-risk matters to Legal Counsel. Avoid providing substantive legal advice outside the scope of the role. Maintain appropriate records of escalations, approvals and decisions. Follow the company’s legal playbooks, policies and approval procedures. Scope of the Role The role is intended to provide independent ownership of routine and repeatable legal work, rather than responsibility for complex legal matters.

The role holder will generally be expected to handle standard contracts and administrative legal matters from initial request through to completion, subject to established guidelines and escalation requirements. Complex negotiations, material departures from standard contractual positions, significant legal risk assessments, substantive legal research and strategic legal advice will remain the responsibility of Legal Counsel.
