Role Overview Citarella is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Sandwich Maker / Sandwich Associate to join our culinary team.

This position is primarily responsible for assembling, preparing, and packaging high-quality sandwiches and wraps while ensuring consistency, freshness, and presentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced food preparation environment, follows established recipes and food safety standards, and takes pride in producing quality products.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and prepare a variety of sandwiches and wraps according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. Properly package, label, and organize finished sandwiches and wraps for display, storage, or distribution. Prepare ingredients, including washing, slicing, and portioning vegetables, meats, cheeses, and other sandwich components.

Safely operate commercial deli slicers to slice meats and cheeses as needed. Prepare, bake, or heat bread using appropriate kitchen equipment and established procedures. Prepare sandwich spreads, dressings, and fillings according to recipes and production needs. Maintain consistent product quality, freshness, and presentation throughout daily production.

Monitor ingredient inventory, properly rotate products, and minimize food waste. Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized workstations, utensils, and food preparation equipment. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures. Collaborate with team members to complete daily production requirements efficiently.

Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.

Qualifications

& Experience Previous experience in sandwich preparation, deli operations, food service, or a kitchen environment preferred. Familiarity with basic food preparation techniques and safe knife handling. Experience operating commercial deli slicers preferred. Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and food preparation instructions.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and product quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Knowledge of basic food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices. Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods, including working in refrigerated preparation areas.
