Quality Control Inspector Primary Purpose Applied Aerospace in Billerica, MA is looking for a Quality Control Inspector who will perform a wide variety of responsibilities related to assessing in-process and final product quality for adherence to customer specifications and releasing of cylindrical components.

Responsibilities

Mechanically inspect machine components of various sizes utilizing general machine shop inspection tools (i.e. micrometer, height stand, caliper, bore gage, CMM) Setup inspection equipment for shop floor use (i.e. bore gauges, height stands) Sample in-process components to ensure adherence to engineering specification Inspect final components to customer drawings, specifications, and procedures Perform incoming inspection of raw material and components Responsibilities may include performing nondestructive and destructive testing Operate various equipment to include CMM and UT inspection equipment; willing to train Support Quality Assurance activities such as internal and external audits Comprehension of numbers, basic trigonometry & geometry (basic shop math) to be able to verify setups, and part dimensions Read and understand drawings, GD&T in order to ensure parts meet specifications Work closely with other departments within the business unit to ensure proper flow of production is met within area and to resolve machining or quality problems Record observations and make recommendations for improving processes Willingness and commitment to teach and to help improve skill sets in others Maintain safe operations by adhering to our safety process Work independently with/without minimal direction of senior personnel in functional area Follow company processes and procedures to comply with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 standards Follow company established safety standards Other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered) High-school diploma or equivalent 3 – 5 years’ experience in Quality and Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing with specific experience performing inspection techniques using precision measuring tools and following quality procedures.

Must be a U.S. Citizen/U.S. Persons due to the nature of the work, compliance with federal contracts, and exposure to ITAR/EAR-regulated technical data. Technical Drawing Interpretation and applied knowledge of GD&T Use of analog gages Selecting the proper gage to use to inspect a specific feature Work under minimal supervision and make sound judgement calls for problems that do not require a manager’s involvement Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job Ability to read drawings as required Work well independently as well as in a team environment, be willing to share information and knowledge and have excellent time management and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills are required Work Enviornment The job operates in a manufacturing atmosphere.
