Pipe Layer

GEC Trucking & Construction, Inc. is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Pipe Layer with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in underground utility and heavy civil construction. The ideal candidate will expertly assemble, connect, and align pipe systems—including water mains, sanitary sewers, storm drains, and force mains while working closely with pipe crews and a foreman.

Key Responsibilities

• Align, join, and seal various piping materials (including Ductile Iron Pipe [DIP], PVC, and concrete) below grade in active trenches
• Read and set grade elevations, utilize pipe lasers, and operate level/transit tools to ensure correct slope and alignment per project blueprints
• Oversee safe trench excavation, verify proper shoring and sloping, and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and local FDOT specifications
• Safely rig and signal heavy machinery operators for lifting and positioning heavy pipe sections and structures
• Direct trench bottom grading, shovel/compact bedding material, and assist crew members to meet daily production schedules
• Perform other duties as needed Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of verified field experience as a pipelayer in underground utility or heavy civil construction
• Advanced ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, utility plans, and city specifications.
• Competency using pipe lasers and grade rods
• Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Must be able to pass a drug test
