Cybersecurity Operations Support Intern - Fall 2026

Posting description In this internship you will support vulnerability mitigation and secure operations for INL’s Linux-based High Performance Computing environment. Work may include researching relevant CVEs, helping prioritize vulnerabilities based on actual system exposure, supporting patching or mitigation efforts, and documenting findings for HPC system administrators and security staff.

Depending on the student’s skills and interests, the project may also include scripting, Git-based documentation, configuration management, or security log analysis. Reporting to the High Performance Computing team. This team works a 9x80 schedule onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability.

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled full time in an Undergraduate degree program at an accredited college/university studying Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology with a cybersecurity or systems focus, Network and Security Administration, Information Systems with a security, infrastructure, or systems emphasis A minimum overall 3.
