Job Summary

Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy is seeking a dependable, organized, and student-focused Food Service Assistant to support the daily operations of our school nutrition program. The Food Service Assistant plays an essential role in ensuring students receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local child nutrition program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with USDA and California Department of Education Child Nutrition Program guidelines.
• Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries while maintaining inventory records.
• Ensure food is prepared, handled, stored, and served in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Maintain accurate meal counts and complete required documentation for reimbursement and compliance.
• Set up and break down serving areas before and after meal service.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and reducing food waste.
• Provide courteous and respectful customer service to students, staff, and families.
• Collaborate with school staff to support meal service operations and special school events.
• Maintain compliance with health department regulations and school nutrition program requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

4. One to two current letters of recommendation (dated within the past three years, including at least one from a direct supervisor)
