Job description

Position: Counselor (Part-time) The Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of clinical series to a population of individuals who experience substance misuse and symptoms of mental health disorders. The Counselor serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and reports to the Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, or Director.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is based at Outreach Recovery Center (Integrated Opioid Treatment Program & Outpatient Services) located at 998 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, NY Essential Duties: Provide individual sessions consistent with client need, person-centered care, and best practices.

Facilitate group sessions related to various topics including but not limited to: substance use, relapse prevention, trauma, life skills, stages of change, etc. Document all service delivery in the EHR promptly and consistent with insurance and stakeholder standards. Ensure that 70% of work hours are spent providing services.

Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, as well as individual and group supervision. Deescalate client crises when appropriate and report all incidents to site managers. Complete toxicology testing consistent with OASAS and Outreach policies. Attend speaking engagements or tabling events. Maintain training appropriate to role and credential/licensure.

Based on credential/licensure, the counselor may supervise interns. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Minimum CASAC-T, CASAC or MSW/MHC/MFT/CAT eligible for limited permit, or a fully licensed clinician. 2-3 years of experience with substance use disorders. 1-2 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders.

1-2 years of experience working in an OASAS-licensed facility a plus.
